Facilitators The Canadian Mental Health Association Vancouver-Burnaby Branch has 14 instructors trained to deliver the Mental Illness First Aid (MIFA) course both publicly and privately. Trained instructors at other CMHA locations deliver the course in other parts of the province. The Mental Illness First Aid course was launched in 2004, since which time over 2000 participants throughout British Columbia have attended this two-day, ground-breaking workshop. Past participants include government financial aid workers, community corrections staff, college administrators, and not-for-profit employers. All Mental Illness First Aid instructors have a solid grounding in both mental health issues and public speaking. Mental Illness First Aid was recognized by the Canadian Society for Training and Development for Training Excellence in 2006.
